Mediterranean Wine Tasting Thursday August 26, 2010.

 Five wines from Portugal,Spain, France, Italy and Greece.  Wine goddess Michelle Gibson will join us while we tour the countries that touch the blue sea.

First Friday is July 2nd.  All artist in our restaurant are invited to sit at the Artist Table and answer questions and talk about their art.  Please join us Friday beginning at 5:30!

Saturday is the Fun Fourth Celebration.  We will be open for lunch that day so drop by and cool off while visiting the festival!

Lose Weight at Riva's!

We do not usually toot our own horn but this has me so excited I wanted to share it (with Warren's permission of course)! 

One of our regulars - Warren Kidd - came to me four months ago at lunch and told me he would not be able to continue to eat here almost every day.  He had been to his doctor and his blood pressure was up and so was his cholesterol.   He needed to lose weight to get back to a healthy place.  I could not lose a great customer and long time friend because of a few pasta noodles!  So I told him if he would tell me what he can and cannot eat not only will we modify dishes but we will make sure no one here brings him anything that he should not eat (ie. bread).  So we started making the large salads with shrimp, chicken and tilapia.  He started getting a cup of soup and a salad and left full and happy.  He also started going to Downtown Fitness on Elm ( (336) 275-6456) and working with a personal trainer.

Four months later, many many lunches and dinners later he has lost 26 lbs!  He has loads of energy and is so motivated to get healthy and stay healthy.  

I can't take all the credit but I do know that helping him make the lifestyle changes he needed to make is something all the staff at Riva's can be proud of.  Go Warren!
